A twenty-year-old New Zealander was the third person diagnosed with texting tenosynovitis. Fleur de Vere Beavis sends 100 text messages a day. Two other were diagnosed, one in nearby Austral and the other in Singapore. One important consideration about the disease is that doctors suspect there are many more unreported cases.
Emma Storr and Mark Stringer, who wrote about texting tenosynovitis in a medical journal believes the disease is more common than reports of actual cases indicate.
New Zealanders send 28 million messages a day. The country, which has a population of 4.2 million, owns 4.5 million cell phones.
