First of all, it wasn’t a Samsung A303 but an LG phone that melted inside the shirt pocket of a Korean man found dead two days ago.
LG has been at pains to explain their safety precautions regarding the batteries in their cellphones: `But we believe that the battery was very unlikely to explode. Our battery is wrapped in aluminum foil, so when there is an external shock, it should just melt, not explode.”
It turns out they were right. The LG phone has been used to cover up a manslaughter incident, which killed Seo. Fellow employee Kwon Young-sup accidentally hit Seo while backing up a hydraulc rig. He is now charged with manslaughter. How Kwon managed to melt the cellphone we don’t know but wait for more updates to this very interesting case.
