More Walkman Phones from Sony Ericsson, this time both hardware utilizing the Walkman Player 3.0 software. Sony Ericsson has gone a little rugged on its new MP3 phone offerings. We don’t know yet the impact of iPhone on Sony Walkman Phones but we’re assuming SE is wary of the Apple Phone + iPod eating away at its market share. Oddly enough, I don’t see any panic in the new cellphone designs.
Thin isn’t news to Sony Ericsson anymore; instead they are building on solid designs and adding new features like 3G and HSDPA. The high-end W890 has high-speed wireless connectivity and a 3.2 MP camera, while the W380 has a 1.3 MP lens. The W890 comes with 2GB via memory card, which is a nice touch.
Sony Ericsson doesn’t seem likely to ruffle its own feathers over new technologies, but we’re not sure this is a good strategy either.
