Since it was first announced, I have been waiting for Nokia 6500 to be released with great anticipation. I knew I didn’t want an iPhone (too wide and too pricey) and I knew there’s a huge likelihood I am going to get another Nokia – if not an Nseries phone, then another Nokia smartphone with excellent form factor. Though I was impressed by the new 5310 and 5610 XpressMusic phones, I wasn’t too sure I was ready to give up the S60 platform for S40.
The Nokia 6500 Slide is a tad better than the Nokia 6500 Classic. It has a 3.2 MP camera with LED flash, better than the 2 MP of the candybar Classic. The 2.2-inch QVGA screen supports 16.7 million colors, a significant improvement over my N70 screen. Other features include 3G connectivity, Bluetooth and all the functionality you can expect from a feature phone, e.g. IM. That’s right, for all its features (and expense), the 6500 Slide uses S40 not the S60 OS. But what convinced me that the 6500 Slide is going to be my next phone is the review above from Kat of ShinyShiny. Click the video to see for yourself: individually brushed anodized aluminum. Hm, yummy.
