Too bad for DVB-H operators. According to a recent Gartner study, only five per cent of Europeans are willing to watch TV on a cell phone, although Asians are more open to the idea with 20% saying they are interested.
The main concern for Europeans is that handsets with screens big enough for TV are too bulky and small handsets have screens that are too small. There is also an apprent lack of workable business model for selling TV on cellphones, not the scenario the European Commission were looking for when they announced a single mobile TV technology for all Europe. In any case, research company Informa is projecting a $38 billion market in 2011 but this includes gambling, adult content and games.
