CNN Money reports that Nokia will launch its own music store to rival iTunes on August 29. Nokia is proving that as always the best defense is an attack. After Apple invaded its territory by launching the iPhone, Nokia will take the ball to Apple’s court with its yet unnamed online music store.
Nokia’s online music service will not differ from iPhone. Customers will download music to their PC then sync it to their phone or MP3 player. Nokia will have an initial 1 million songs available at launch, way better than the 200,000 songs Apple offered at iTunes’ launch. The Nokia music store will be launched with live music at Ministry of Sound.
