Single Mobile FemaleSamsung Telecommunications America commissioned a study on single mobile women or SMW with surprising results.

Randy Smith, VP of channel marketing for Samsung:

The cell phone is an integral part of the SMF’s life, serving as a pocket-size detective, matchmaker, wing-woman and beyond. It is now officially a girl’s best friend.

Here are the results:

- 73% have exchanged paper address books for mobiles
- 12% say big, bulky phone a majorturn off.
- 32% say they can size up a person based on the cell phone brand they carry
- 74% keep time using their cellphones
- 70% have looked into their partner’s cellphones without permission
- 40% rejected cell phone advancements by claiming technical difficulties
- 78% give their cell number to men they like
- 10% say 3-day rule don’t apply to text messages
- 48% flirt using SMS or text message
- 39% have sent text messages they shouldn’t have

Overall, I feel good about the report, especially the statistics on 39% of women feeling shame about sending a message they shouldn’t have. I expect more understanding from the fairer sex next time I do this myself. Read more about the study.
