The iPhone’s latest rival, the HTC Touch is a real smartphone – not like the iPhone – with multi-touch user interface that is almost like the iPhone’s. Well, not exactly. The finger-swiping response is a bit slow. But the main problem is the user interface. It’s just like any Windows Mobile device, with an added 3D command commands. The navigation hasn’t improved much, and after you’ve seen the iPhone demos it might even feel more awkward than usual. Screen resolution is pretty poor, again compared to the iPhone. Well, you can see for yourself…

i guess if you like iphone go out and buy one. i like touch and i already got one and am a happy user since. touch is of course not like iphone – it’s better than iphone. it looks prettier and it’s got functionality unlike iphone you cannot write a damn message in a fraction of few seconds (which is still a few seconds)
i mean to each his owns. there is no need to kiss apple’ ass just to ditch its competitor. at the end of the day, whethere you successfully persuade your friends/relatives (if you have any) to buy an iphone or to prevent others from buying a touch, you are still who you’re, your bank account does not grow by a penny as a matter of sad fact for you.
to sum it up, hello fellas, you don’t get more money in your savings nor do you get any kisses back from apple on your ass (it’s probably the sadest truth i hate to break it out to you). apple is not passing that profit to you in any way. wake it up, poor fans.
i’m not a fan of any brand. i buy anything that worth my money.
i`m writing this from my touch…. I like the Touch better cause it has an OS…. and I feel 3rd party software makes the Touch ã better overall unit cause it can DO so much more with Windows
the gsm version is sloooow effin slow
HEY ! ! Wanna see what the HTC Touch can really do ? ? ? Jump on http://www.youtube.com and do a search for HTC Touch EZE and you will see 12 of my videos on what that Bad Ass phone can do ! ! !
The htc touch iz wayyyyy bettr then the iphone, ive got mine and its awesome..i jus love it…itz jus like a computer
It sucks, very slow, unless you have pins for fingures its hard to use without the tiny screen pen.
thank the gods it only cost me $100.00
IT SUCKS
IT SUCKS BIG TIME, the user interface kicks in every time I hold it against my ear … it is slow, keyboard is un-responsive .. it cannot keep up with the dialing,
I hate beoing on a call and find that excel has started, the time manager is running, the claendar kicked in .. my lord what a damned disaster this is!
yo i just got mine today, so far nothing is wrong with it. i hate u apple assholes who thing that apple is a religion or something. dont buy a phone or any piece of technology for that matter only based on the fact that ”your” company released it. personaly im not going to be putting videos/music or a slideshow of my entire family on my cellphone. it keeps my schedual in order, makes calls, and does what i want it to.
In my opinion there is no phone like this one. I had it, then i spilled water on it and after 7 months the screen quit working… so i went out and bought an iphone, then returned it to try the samsung instinct and returned that one also to go back to the HTC touch.
its very very easy to use- the response is a little off sometimes but the setup of the phone makes up for it … by far my favourite phone EVER
I have just purchased a touch a couple of days ago after searching for a phone for over 7 months that suited what I wanted from a phone. My brother has recently purchased an iphone and he LOVES it. I have my HTC and I LOVE it. To be honest I really do think it is just a matter of personal preference in what it is you want in a phone.
Well i prefer the iPod touch than having the actual iphone, because GSM is not my cup of tea! I prefer the touch than the iphone as a Cell phone/pda… it works great and the resolution is not as bad as you are portraying it to be, i have the iPod touch and using the HTC Touch has still amazed me, great phone, small, convenient and mainly a cell phone, unlike the iPhone… i say buy the iPod Touch instead of iPhone and get the HTC Touch for a cell is better, EVDO speed wise is GREAT and better than the G3; in my area anyways..
Another Bonus of the HTC Touch is the feel of the actual phone, its just tougher and don’t get all scratched up like the iphone/ipod touch’s back, which is glossy. having the pen option and using your finger is also another great bonus, i love the pen as it doesn’t leave a mess of finger prints on my screen and its fast and precise. If you plan on not using the pen, you definetely need to adjust the Screen settings, in the system tab of the Start/Settings option. The option is called Align Screen, it will make it so it is more accurate to your finger than the pen, you will notice that by changing this, the pen will not work as well but your fingers will and vice versa.
GARBAGE! I had my HTC Touch for 6 months. All I can say is buy the extended warranty. Screen & case break and crack easily. Touch screen is too sensitive, that whenver I talk on the phone multiple settings get turned on. Then the phone overheats and the screen turns black. Granted the features, and portable office are handy, but there is no need for a touch screen. They have not perfected it yet, and I was the sucker that tested out the many flaws this phone has. ANy touch screen will leave greasy prints. BUT, the ultimate piss off is when using the phone the touch screen automatically shuts it off, or brings you into a slide show. Do not waste your money, or patience on this piece of crap.
I got my HTC Touch (MP6900) a while ago and frankly hated it. I would’ve taken it back except that my dog got at it shortly after I got it. Cosmetic damage only, and the screen didn’t take any damage, but still they wouldn’t take it back.
Then I found a post on the xda-developers forum where they got Android running on it. I followed the simple directions and, after updating to the latest ROM from HTC, I now have a very solid and fully functional Android phone, minus the Android Market, but you can still install 3rd party programs by just downloading them manually.
It is so much easier to use than the atrocious interface it came with. With Android it’s like the interface was actually designed for a cell phone! How novel! The responsiveness of the screen is improved, showing that the screen, while not as nice as an iPhone’s, isn’t the real problem. WinMo and HTC Crapware are.
Now if only it had a proper headphone jack, I’d drop my iPod Touch like a tons of bricks.
If you hate your HTC, give Android a shot. You will be pleased!
I have the htc touch and love it. I’m not sure what you mean by the android download though. what does it do to windows mobile?
i have had my htc mp6900 touch for 8 months now,(my work cell) and at first, i was confused with how to work it, but now i love it. it was so easy to learn how to use, and now i would not trade it, i also have the sansung behold(another touch phone) that is for personal use and i like it too, but for functional comparison the htc has better pda systems, than the behold. so now i am just waiting out my comtract with the company that i have the behold with , to switch , to the company my work phone is with,,,as for iphone,,,,no way,, htc has them beat hands down. my friend has one, and i tried it, crap it was a joke, lol,, so htc,, you rock on,,,,lol
I’ve had this phone for almost 2 years and I can’t wait to get rid of it!!! It’s the biggest piece of crap I’ve ever owned. This is the 3rd one I’ve had, the screen breaks constantly, totally unresponsive and just try to send a text message without wanting to throw it against something hard. Total joke of a phone!
this is the worst phone ever. dont get it.
the battery is horrible.
everything is hard to do.
camera sucks.
when im talking to someone , alarms get set and other things pop up.
@Joel
You can get the version of Android for this phone from http://code.google.com/p/vogue-android/
At this point, it just runs on top of WinMo. Just unzip the android file on to your SD card and run the Haret program which will boot up Android. It’s a bit inconvenient if the battery runs out and you have to boot back in to WinMo and then in to Android, but I typically leave it running for weeks without rebooting. Good news is if you decide you don’t like it, just do a reset and you’re back where you started.
On the developer’s “to do” list is a flashable ROM which will replace WinMo instead of just running on top of it. That will supposedly result in a big speed increase…. even though it’s already way speedier than that HTC touchflo garbage. It also means if you wanted WinMo back (why!?!?!) you’d have to re-flash with your official ROM.
Also, the android market works now. Development is going very quickly. Android is the best thing that happened to this phone! Definitely getting another Android phone when the time comes.
does the touch support iphone apps??
I have struggled with my Touch for over two years and finally lost patience (and I am a freakishly patient person) and got an Iphone. I can’t believe I suffered with the Touch for so long!
The phone froze at least once every few days and would require a shutdown and reboot, which would often take up to an hour to complete as it had to be done multiple times. Not having a phone for the time in the interim was completely annoying. The phone does not operate intuitively and there are probably features on it I never even used because it wasn’t worth bothering with. Half the time I was afraid of it locking up if I did anything unusual. The only thing worse than that phone was dealing with HTC’s customer service! Good riddance Touch!
This info is great! Im sure this blog is one of the best on the web! Thank you again for yet another
great blog post!
