I’ve been looking for a 3G handset to replace my Nokia N70, but haven’t the heart to spend the same amount I spent on the N70. Even after prices have gone down for handsets that came out last year (like the N73 for example, which would give me 1.3+ megapixels compared to the N70), I’m still reluctant to part with precious cash that would buy me an iPhone on the event that there would be an actual prepaid version than can work outside the US. I’m crossing my fingers.
The KU250 is a candybar 3G phone from LG and is currently the cheapest 3G cellphone on the planet. It’s a triband GSM with GPRS, EDGE and 3G UMTS. You can’t listen to FM with it but there’s an onboard 1.3 MP camera. The screen, with 262k-colors, is not bad. Bluetooth 1.2, USB, email (no web browser), MP3 player and hands-free dialing are pretty much all you get. At first I cpouldn’t believe there’s no web browser, but I suppose you can make do with WAP and xHTML. It’s not a smartphone or anything but with JAVA you can at least download some neat applications like an e-book reader.
The KU250 is the phone of choice for the GSM Association’s “3G for All” programme. It beat 19 other phones on pricing: $128.

This is my first NON-NOKIA Phone.
I bought this phone just this afternoon from a Globe Hub in Galleria w/ 0% Interest for 12 months!!
That’s only P500+ per MONTH!
Aside from the missing headset (2gb SD would be useless w/o it), it’s a very intuitive phone especially I’ve always been a Nokia boy even from the 90’s.
At 73grams, it’s ergonomically slim (unlike 6300 or ultra slim edition which could be a torment when typing long msgs over the keypad)
This is truly a feature-rich phone for it’s price and Ergonomically SLIM SIZE!

One question though, 3G or GPRS Data Rates of GLOBE is freakin expensive at 0.15/kb = P150 PER Megabyte while SMART offers P10 per 30mins.
