T-Mobile flying phonesOld dual-modes are phones that operate in analog and digital networks, but today when they speak of dual-mode, they mean an added WiFi calling. Few cell phone makers and wireless providers have really gone all out exploring this technology (with good reason, since calling over the Internet doesn’t earn networks anything).

But, finally, we have a major wireless company releasing two dual-mode phones later this year. T-Mobile is rolling out HotSpotAtHome with two phones: Nokia 6136 and Samsung t709. The two phones can switch from network connection to WiFi seamlessly in 8,300 T-Mobile Wi-Fi hotspots across the U.S. The service costs $20 a month.
