The Big Apple iPhone Bet

N95 photoOk, I’ll probably sound totally like an ass or just plain desperate for traffic but this blog was the first to post an iPhone killer top ten. A few weeks after that Mobilewhack and Newlaunches had their own list. Mobilewhack limited itself to touch screen phones, which is logical I guess considering that iPhone’s best feature is its multi-touch controls. Newlaunches has only allowed itself “Top 5 phones which pose a serious threat to the iPhone.”

The Bet: My proposal is this, let’s take each site’s list of iPhone killers/competitors/threats:

Cellphones.ca
: Nokia N95, Samsung F700, Sony Ericsson SO903iTV, M8, LG Prada, W880 Walkman Phone, Nokia E90, N99, Neonode N2, Xun Chi 138

Mobilewhack (concepts will not count): Samsung F700, LG Prada, N2, Neo1973, FIC-GTA001, Meizu M8

Newlaunches: Samsung F700, LG Prada, Nokia N95, Neonode N2, M8

The iPhone comes out in June. Let’s say one year after that, June 2008 we look at the numbers on each site’s list of iPhone killers/competitors/threats. Now multiply each number one handset by the number of handsets on each list (i.e. cellphones.ca’s N95 sales x 10; Mobilewhack’s F700’s sales x 6, Newlaunches’ F700 x 5), and then the number two by the numeral below the number of handsets on each list (i.e. cellphones.ca’s F700 x 9, Mobilewhack’s LG Prada x 5) until you’ve multiplied the last item on each list by one.

Ok? I hope that’s clear.

Now, take the total of each site and divide it by the number of handsets on each site’s list. The highest quotient takes the pot, whatever that might be, say, the latest upcoming iPhone model.
