Before we begin to lose sight on who the big banana is in the wireless world, we present to you the latest development in Japan. NTT DoCoMo, Japan’s biggest wireless provider have just announced that it has achieved a maximum of 5Gbps of downlink during a field experiment. This 4G experiment took place in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture over a month ago on December 25, 2006.
The 5Gbps downlink was achieved using a moving receiver at a speed of 10km/h. For more details, we’ll have to wait for tomorrow when the 3GSM in Barcelona begins.
