Vodafone Will Offer Bastardized Mobile YouTube

BrianB (1829 days ago)

Vodafone has Ebay and MySpace, two of the most addictive sites on the Internet with vast income-generating potential, on an exclusive relationship and now with YouTube onboard, it’s timely of Vodafone’s Global Chief Marketing Officer Frank H. Rövekamp to give an illustration of the power of understatement:

Today’s announcement with YouTube further expands the range of Internet services we’re bringing to the mobile, introducing a seamless experience that allows customers to engage with user generated content on the move.

Well, unless Rövekamp has another way in mind to make 3G profitable for wireless carriers, this move isn’t so much an expansion as it is Vodafone’s future. The deal, however, will give Vodafone customers very limited access to YouTube: a group of new videos selected by YouTube, out of the 65,000 uploaded every day, and customers ability to forward links to friends and upload their own videos to YouTube.

We hope the daily selections will include videos from Esmee Denters, YouTube’s pretty singing sensation.
