Windows 6Microsoft will show off their new mobile OS, Windows Mobile 6, at the 3GSM in Barcelona, and it will be among the hottest drawers at the event. We’re pretty sure that though Windows Mobile has a minority share in the mobile software market trailing the Symian OS, found in Nokia smartphones, the tech savvy crowd in Barcelona will want first dibs on whatever hardware Microsoft will have running the new software.

Formerly code-named Crossbow, WM6 is using the WM5 so upgrades from WM5 will not be difficult. Besides an improved User Interface, WM^ will have an improved messaging function, integration with Windows Live and new security measures, which features a remote date delete function, which wipes out all phone data in case of loss or theft.

Windows Mobile 6 will come in three flavors, namely Professional (for touchscreen devices), Classic (PDAs) and Standard (smartphones).
