June 15th is Apple iPhone’s Launch Date

iphone glassA letter from Apple to the FCC requesting that they both keep the iPhone between themselves up until a specified date has surfaced as an unofficial Apple iPhone launch date.

The letter was dated October 12, well before Mac World and definitely a more gentlemanly treatment from Apple this time around. GRanted that Apple was a little bit demanding in requesting additional confidentiality, besides the “theory of operation” (I gather this is either the UI or the multi-touch display), including photographs of the iPhone.

But that’s water under the bridge… right? What interests us now is the piece of chronological detail at the end of the second to last paragraph, which is as clear as daylight: June 15, 2007. You can have a look at the letter here.
