The photo, a concept from Nokia, will be the future of N-Gage. It slides out on both ends, not quite the dual-slider that the N95 is, one end a numeric keypad and the other a console for mobile gaming.
Aesthetically, the metallic casing looks fabulous and durable enough for a hardcore gaming fan. Portability-wise, this concept is a winner. Mobile gaming seems to be on Nokia’s mind even after failure of the original N-Gage.
This N-Gage 2 will be a far departure from the original, however, which probably be a smartphone first and mobile game console second. I guess, if N-Gage can’t win as N-Gage, it will live on in spirit, at the very least, in all Nokia smartphones, or as Gerard Wiener, Director and General Manager of Nokia’s Game division, puts it:
With the N-Gage platform, we’ve been able to deliver a superior gaming experience to mobile gamers, but only on a small range of devices. Now we want to expand rich, connected mobile gaming across the Nokia smartphone range.
