LG KC1 PDA: Windows Mobile w/ Wimax

LG KC1Introduced late last year in Korea, the LG KC1 has a lot of sleek features that Europeans and Americans will be dying to get their hands on.

First of all, this PDA runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 and powered by Monahans 806 MHz processor. More interestingly though is the connectivity on this gadget. This is a CDMA/EvDo device, which is fast enough for most people, especially those who believe that the iPhone’s GSM/EDGE connectivity will be sufficient come June. But for the makers of the KC1 merely being adequate isn’t enough as the device also receives T-DMB broadcasts. There’s the Bluetooth and an optional WiFi in case EvDo and especially – are you ready? – Wimax do not quite give you the connectivity you expect from all the hype.

Wimax is already in wide use in Korea and Japan. At the moment, it will provide users with downlink speeds of up to 10.2Mbps, which is expected to improve to at least 40Mbps this year. We’re hoping that Wimax will be commercially available soon in other regions of the world besides Japan and Korea along with all the cool 4G devices that come with it, including this top-shelf 4G-ready PDA from LG.

KC1 users will be enjoying PDA and Windows Mobile applications on a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen. This device comes with a 512MB internal Flash memory and a T-flash expansion slot.
