Rogers To Get the Apple iPhone?

Apple iPhone in CanadaWill Rogers Wireless be the exclusive Canadian wireless service provider for the Apple iPhone? Almost certainly. As a GSM/EDGE device, the Apple iPhone will feel right at home at Rogers Wireless, which operates the largest GSM network in Canada.

Canadians will most likely get the Apple iPhone late 2007 or early 2008, but this could be a blessing instead of a curse. The iPhone is Apple’s first venture into the wireless handset industry and it nay take Apple until version 2.0 to iron out all the major kinks in such a hi-tech phone, which means that late consumers like the Canadians will get more stable version of the iPhone.

Canada, however, may also present Apple with it’s own version of Cisco. A VoIP provider in Canada, Comwave Telecom Inc., already has a product out in the market carrying th name “Iphone” and, just like Cisco, they don’t feel shy about a lawsuit either.

Update: The iPhone is now officially coming to Canada. A Rogers iPhone announcement has arrived!
