Rogers to Distribute Apple iPhone in Canada

Rogers ComingRogers has confirmed that it is currently talking with Apple to make itself the Canadian carrier for the iPhone. There has been no definite agreement yet, but if Canadian’s are ever going to get their hands on the iPhone it will only be after getting into contract with Rogers Wireless.

Rogers operates the largest GSM network in Canada and is Canada’s biggest carrier just like Cingular is the biggest carrier in the U.S. Rogers may offer the iPhone with a three year contract, which will lower the asking price.

Traditionally, new smartphone releases get to Canada 6 to 7 months after their U.S. release, so expect the iPhone late 2007.

Update: Late 2007 never happened but it’s now official. The iPhone is coming to Rogers!
