The quake measured 7.1 on the Richter scale. Taiwan, being the epicenter, took most of the force. Two underwater cables off of Taiwan were damaged slowing down data traffic in Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong as well as other neighboring nations.
Connectivity has been largely restored in most affected areas today, while South Korea and Taiwan are still suffering from slow data traffic. Yesterday’s quake came on the second anniversary of the Asian tsunami that killed 230,000 people in Asia and Africa.
