Joking aside, Linksys‘ VoIP phone gives iPhone watchers another puzzler to sink their teeth into. With a telephony device out there carrying the IPhone name, would Apple come out with a phone at all? Heck, maybe Brian Lam would go with this headline next time he thinks Gizmodo needs more traffic (according to Alexa, the canard didn’t do anything to the website’s ranking).
As for the VoIP IPhone, Linksys will be releasing two new models to add to its Internet-based calling services. The Wireless-G Phone (WIP320) will have Skype-only connectivity while the Dual-Mode Internet Telephony Kit (CIT400) will have both Skype and landline connectivity.
The WIP320 can also download photos and music from the Internet via the SIP protocol, and connected to a Linksys Wireless-G Compact Video Camera (WVC54GC) it’s possible to do video-conferencing or webcaming.
The WIP320 is priced at $180 and the CIT400 at $200.
