LG PDA W/ WiMAX and Windows Mobile

LG KC1There are a lot of small surprises coming at of the ITU Telecom World, and one of them happens to be LG. Who knew an LG device will have WiMAX link up ahead of most everybody in the mobile industry.

As wikipedia explains, WiMAX is not a technology per se but a certification mark, much like Wi-Fi. WiMAX could prove very cost-effective (just don’t know yet if it’ll fry your brain like WiFi). Download speeds are around 10 Mbps and is expected to be at the 40 Mbps range next year. In Japan and South Korea, WiMAX is definitely a workable option.

The LG KC1 will operate on Windows Mobile 5.0. The 2.8 inch QVGA touch-screen looks very bright, and very attractive. It seems LG handsets have altogether graduated from a 1.3 MP to a 2.0 MP built-in cameras. CDMA and Ev-Do is also supported on this PDA, presumably for U.S. and European release. The understrength 64MB built-in RAM in the KC1 can be expanded via microSD card slot.
