The Samsung SGH-F500 has the same dual-face design as its musical sister, the SGH-F300 and will be the first video phone with DivX support. The “Ultra Video” will be taking advantage of one of the more popular video formats on the Internet. DivX is an MPEG4-based format that allows the compression of DVD videos.
The Samsung Ultra video is a candy bar with an exciting swivel motion for comfortable video watching. The onboard camera is only a 2 megapixel, which means that users will not be watching their own indie film on the QVGA TFT screen ( 262k colors and a 240 x 320 pixel resolution). With 400MB of internal memory and an added 2 GB from the MicroSD card, users will likely forget to backup video copies in their PC.
The F500 Ultra Video is UMTS, GSM and EDGE so users can take full advantage of all the media formats it supports: MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC, and WMA for audio, and MPEG4, H.264, WMV for video. Like the F300, the F500 Ultra Video will be available in January.
