Nokia will include integrated Yahoo services in more Nokia cell phones. The pre-existing partnership embeds Yahoo services in higher Nokia models like the N-Series. Now Nokia handsets using a Series 40 platform will have Yahoo instant messaging and web-based email pre-installed and integrated in the User Interface, which means ordinary Nokia users will be spared from the harrowing experience of asking the nearest geek to do them that favor.
Yahoo will initially be offered to the Nokia 6300, Nokia 5200 and 5300 XpressMusic and will be found in the other Series 40 phones soon after.
With this major partnership heading for deeper and deeper exclusivity, something has to be said about those startup companies offering messaging solutions for cellphones. Mobile messaging and email is expected to experience major growth in the coming years.
