The Samsung SGH-i607 Blackjack meets all the requirements of a true Blackberry competition. It’s the cheapest smartphone running Windows Mobile on Cingular’s HSDPA network (source). There’s no Wi-Fi but it’s narrower than the Q, which gives it an edge over the Motorola smartphone. I suppose the Blackjack is more marketable as the Blackberry killer (and if it succeeds in doing this feature-wise Blackjack will have a far easier time erasing Blackberry from smartphone users’ collective consciousness), and is marketed as such instead of the Motorola Q killer. But Cingular is Blackberry distributor. Most likely Cingular will place the Blackjack on a head-to-head with Verizon’s Q. It’s slimmer and the battery life last longer, which might help it edge out the Q and also get a good headstart on next year’s Motorola Q Pro Edition.
Other Blackjack features include:
Qwerty keyboard
QVGA screen
1.3 megapixel camera
Bluetooth 2.0
MP3, video players, email, high-speed web browsing usinf Pocket IE
