Virgin Launches Cyclops Phone and New Audio Services

CyclopsThe Cyclops phone from Kyocera is a cute phone and Virgin Mobile is sure to get more subscribers through this standalone offer (the lens is actually located almost on the same spot as older Motorola V300 models).

What’s really news however (source) is that this launch is in conjunction with some new audio services called TXT Tones and VAM (Virgin Audio Messaging).

TXT Tones are audio clips (short 3-5 second bits of a song) that can be used to alert you of a new text or picture message. The cost is $1.50 per TXT Tone. VAM on the other hand stands for Virgin mobile audio messaging. This feature lets you record your voice (like a voice memo recorder) and send it as part of a instant messaging conversation (chat). Basically, why type when you can talk.

The Cyclops though is very light at 3.5 ounces and has a 1.3 megapixel camera. You can get it now from Virgin Mobile in the US for $99.99.
