We expected this last year and we’re not looking to hear different news in the future – smart phone sales will continue to rise. Though standalone PDA sales keep growing, consumers will be less and less likely to distinguish between PDAs smartphones. People like to carry a multi-functional single device, not several devices of different functionality. I think what we could get rid of are those bulky brief cases I still see being dragged around.
The report also mentions that only in North America do PDAs sell better than smartphones. The Nokia brand dominates the market on both devices.
