- Rogers and Fido introduce name display for cell phones
A first in North America, a new service from Fido and Rogers will allow users to see the name of the person calling, even if the person is not in their mobile address book. It’s not cheap though! Customers wanting to get name display on their phone will need to subscribe to both call display and name display for a combined rate of $8/month.

- Asia to get 1 billion mobile users by year end
The number of mobile phone users throughout Asia is expected to grow by 22% in 2006 to almost one billion subscribers by the end of the year. That includes 100 million Japanese users, but much of the growth is expected to come from India and Indonesia and to be prepaid users, who are less likely to use expensive mobile content services.
