Apple has relayed an official statement to the Cult of Mac in response to the US government’s recent ruling that legitimizes iPhone jailbreaking.

iPhone jailbreak

Below is their short message addressing the issue:

Apple’s goal has always been to insure that our customers have a great experience with their iPhone and we know that jailbreaking can severely degrade the experience. As we’ve said before, the vast majority of customers do not jailbreak their iPhones as this can violate the warranty and can cause the iPhone to become unstable and not work reliably.

There’s really nothing surprising here, but it does clear up some confusion regarding jailbreaking and the iPhone’s warranty. iPhone jailbreaking may now be considered as a legal act, but that landmark ruling changes nothing in Apple’s warranty limitations. Jailbreaking is still considered as grounds for voiding the iPhone’s warranty.

Will this new statement from Apple deter users from jailbreaking the iPhone? I highly doubt it especially now that they've got the law on their side.
