Remember all the fuss about LocateCell.com? Cingular is actually doing something its customers will approve of.
Cingular on Friday announced that it has succeeded in obtaining a restraining order against against two companies that it alleges sell illegally obtained Cingular customer call records. The two companies appear to be the past and current owners of two sites that advertise as being able to obtain call records for any mobile phone customers. Cingular asserts that they use fraudulent methods to obtain the data, such as by posing to be the customer in question when speaking to Cingular customer service representatives.
