The Android Market has definitely grown by leaps and bounds since it first made headlines back in 2008. The direct and probably the most capable rival to the Apple App Store, the Android Market is now on its way to achieving a major milestone this month. Based on the current figures, it appears that the Android market will be able to hit the 100,000 mark in terms of app offerings this July.

According to AndroidLib, the Android Market currently has 92,000 apps readily available for download. Add to that the steady upward trend of app approvals per month which last month already surpassed the 15,000 mark, it looks like they’re definitely on their way to easily clinching that milestone barring any sudden changes in app submissions and approvals this month.

Of course, that’s still a couple of hundred thousand shy of what’s currently available at the Apple App Store. Nonetheless, that’s still quite a remarkable feat making the Android Market the second most successful mobile app store of this generation next to the pioneer of it all, the Apple App Store.

No wonder more people are getting enticed to get an Android phone, or is it the other way around with developers joining the Android cause as a direct result of the improved sales of Android phones? Which ever it is, this is certainly good news for Google and supporters of the Android platform.
