Imagine a world where re-charging mobile phones, digital cameras and MP3 players is completely hassle-free and convenient, where you never need to remember to carry a charger with you when you travel, where the whole world uses the same solution.
Am I dreaming?

Splashpower is a wireless power solution:
* It enables you to power up your mobile phone and other portable devices, simply by dropping them on a mouse-mat-sized pad, called a SplashPad™
* No physical connection is required between the SplashPad and the device – power is transferred wirelessly
* Different devices can be charged on a single SplashPad at the same time
* Splashpower spells an end to hunting for the right charger, finding free socket spaces or fiddling with connectors and offers a solution to the charging problem of current and next generation portable products.
It is just what it says it is: a square pad on a desk, about the size of a mousepad, which allows you to simply set your cell phone down, and walk away.
I am a little suspicious though. Physical law is pretty clear about conductivity- I would be a bit worried about senisitve components being zapped- especially by electromotive force.
The company doesn’t address this on its website, but it does specify that the technology won’t damage credit cards and other things, which are typically effected by a magnetic field.
The other issue is LCD screens. Hi power magnets may cause “dead pixels” to show up on your screen.
I would like to see it in action, and determine for myself if it is safe for sensitive devices.
