Remember the Samsung Galaxy S Pro we first talked about two weeks? Sprint has officially launched it albeit with a different name – the Samsung Epic 4G.

Samsung Epic 4G

It’s part of the Samsung Galaxy family of phones, and just like the HTC Evo 4G, this baby comes with WiMAX connectivity and can also function as a mobile Hotspot. Some of the drool-worthy specs of the Epic 4G include a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 1GHz hummingbird processor complemented by 512MB RAM/1GB ROM, a six-axis motion sensor, and 720p HD video recording capability. It also packs a 5-megapixel camera, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth, 5-row QWERTY keypad, and has Android 2.1 as its OS with TouchWIZ 2.5 and Swype preloaded as well. Sprint, however, assures that there will be an Android 2.2 update made available for the Samsung Epic 4G sometime in the near future.

Pricing is still yet to be known, but if you’re interested, you can sign-up here to be part of their mailing to get the latest updates as far as this new Samsung Android phone is concerned. For the full press release, you can check it out here.
