Socialight is cool. I’m not exactly sure why yet, but I can feel it.
What is it?
Socialight says it is “a location-based messaging system that allows you to share messages about places with others.”
But it is oh, so much more.
It is just like walking around the city, and leaving a sticky note somewhere for other people to find. Your “sticky note” is sent via text message to the person or people you have previously designated, as this person passes through a specific location.
For example, you want your new girlfriend to think of you every time she passes by the restaurant where you had your first date.
Step one: Register at Socialight, and get her to register too.
Step two: Enter your message and the location where you want it to be seen.
Step three: Your girlfriend gets the message every time she walks by the restaraunt.
Hopefully she will find this endeering, and not creepy.
You can also make and join user groups. You can post messages viewable by the entire group. Perhaps you have a house that is particularly difficult to find. You can leave a “sticky” at your address to let people know they are close.
There are infinate uses for this cool new toy. I bet it soon becomes more popular than Myspace.
