Telus / Sprint PPC-6700
Why?
1. It’s ugly
2. It’s huge
3. It’s Sprint
4. It’s 600 bucks!
This ugly thing can’t do anything the Blackberry or Treo can’t do, and it costs more than twice as much.
Sprint has the worst customer service, the worst network, and the worst selection of devices.
On the suck scale, 1 being a dustbuster, and 10 being a big black hole of suck, this device registers a 7, for being ugly and expensive.

i agree that this smartphone is ugly, but it does do more than blackberries. for example, it has windows mobile version 5 which synchs up nicely with your outlook while also allowing you to do Word and Excel editing. plus, if you’re in a wi-fi area, you can pick up the signal and get high speed internet for free. it’s also EVDO compatible which most blackberries are not (the EVDO 7100 series of blackberries can’t even touch this smartphone). it can act like a modem, or wi-fi station, for your laptop. its html browser allows for https website viewing so you can do banking and other secure surfing.
this is literally a computer in your pocket. its only downfalls are that it is slighty biggish but only compared to a cellphone. against other pdas and smartphones, it’s competitive. as well, this phone has bluetooth but has no bluetooth modem capability so you have to cable it.
it’s ugly, yes, but it’s a serious workhorse of a smartphone.
i thought i liked the 6700 until i started to use it for more than just a phone and organizer. To begine with, it is mediocre as a phone. its awkward to hold to your head, even worse to dial on. Theres no grab and talk feel to this phone, you either have to pull out the stupid little pen (stylus) or you have to dial on the flat keypad. I highly doubt that one would be inclined to use the slide out keyboard to dial. for all the show, there just isn’t enough go. the phone promises seemingly unlimited expandability of software with its claims of 2gbs in a miniSD card, but the fact of the matter is that the phone simply cannot handle many apps. I do not mean simultaneously, it just doesnt work well after you’ve installed a few applications on it. the phone completely froze on me and required me to do a hard reset, whiping out a lot of my personalizations, when i was changing the today theme to something a little less bland.
if i could, i’d go back to my a900 (blade) and i would rather carry a separate PDA that can do the job right.
