Motorola Milestone XT720 (aka Motoroi) gets Officially Announced in Europe

It’s been a while since we last heard about the Motoroi aka Motorola Sholes tablet. It was previously rumored to be coming to the US in March, but that obviously didn’t happen. We still don’t know if and when this Android phone will become available in the region, but for those over in the Europe, the wait is finally over as Motorola has just officially announced this baby as the Milestone XT720.

Similar to what is available in Korea, the Milestone XT720 comes with a 3.7-inch 480×854 WVGA capacitive touchscreen, 8-megapixel camera with Xenon flash and 720p HD video recording, WiFi, GPS, HDMI out, 3.5mm jack, 550MHz processor and ships with an 8GB microSD card in the box. It has Android 2.1 as its OS, and will probably get an Android 2.2 Froyo update sometime in the near future unless they deem it underpowered for the latest Android OS.

Here’s a very enticing promotional video of the Milestone XT720:

Motorola failed to mention though when it will exactly hit the market and its suggested retail price. You can read the full press release here. Now that it’s officially in Europe, will the US and Canada be next? We don’t know the answer to that question, but we’re certainly hoping so.
