Leaked ROMs, more often than, come loaded with clues to upcoming devices, and that’s exactly the case with a Windows Phone 7 ROM that some folks over at the XDA-Developers forums managed to get a copy of.

HTC MondrianWe’re not sure if the image here is a carbon copy of the actual device, but this was the image they extracted from the oemavatar.cab which they believe to be the HTC Mondrian. As far as specs go, further digging into the registry revealed that this purported Windows Phone 7-powered HTC handset features a 4.3-inch 480×800 WVGA touchscreen from Optrex and a 1.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon (QSD8650A/B) processor complete with multi-mode UMTS and CDMA 3G connectivity. It’s also equipped with a digital compass for GPS functionality.

Do note, however, that these are just references that were discovered in a Windows Phone 7 ROM. There’s no certainty at this point in time that it is an actual device already in production. Be that as it may, this does a good job in whetting our appetite at what could lie ahead of us later this year when the first batch of Windows Phone 7 devices begin to roll out.
