Are You a Total Spaz?

Are you the type of person who mercilessly destroys small gadgets? Have you gone through four or five cell phones this year? Do you already own a Panasonic Toughbook?
You’re in luck. Panasonic has you in mind. They’ve made a cell phone just for you.

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-P2 pocket PC phone is tech-decked to the max, and it’s virtually indestructible, within reason. (Don’t take it scuba diving, or store it in a deep freezer and you’re golden.)

The Toughbook phone is made to be completely compatible with the Toughbook laptop that Panasonic has been selling since early 2003, but it will work just fine for the average accident-prone, or hardcore joe who doesn’t happen to own a Toughbook.

The recently FCC approved CF-P2 probably won’t be sold by service providers, but rather by Panasonic and third party retailers. There is no word yet when it will actually be available for purchase, but it is already getting a lot of attention.

The phone operates on GSM 850 and 1900 networks, so it is compatible with Cingular and T-Mobile in the US, and Rogers and Fido in Canada. It is also equipped with 802.11 wireless technology, so you can connect to your home wireless network, or browse the internet at your favorite coffee shop. If all of that doesn’t keep you connected, don’t worry: the phone also has Blue Tooth to back you up.

The best thing about this phone is its durability. It is touted to resist moisture, heat and vibration, and is supposed to survive short falls. (Less than 1.5 meters.)

So, next time you drive off with your phone on the roof of your car, remember… there is a phone made just for you.
