Over the weekend, Virgin Mobile Canada surprised everyone and officially went live with their new HSPA+ network. We were expecting them to launch it tomorrow. Be that as it may, we’re not exactly disappointed at the earlier roll out. Alongside the availability of their faster data network, they’ve also released the bevy of HSPA enabled devices that were leaked earlier this month.

virgin mobile iphone 3gsBoth the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G S, as expected, is priced similarly to what other carriers are offering. Their BlackBerry Bold 9700, meanwhile, is retailing for $149.99 (3-yr contract). The BlackBerry Curve 8530, for its part, is priced at just $49.99 (3-yr contract). On a 2-yr contract basis, the Samsung M330 and Novatel MiFi 2372 are both available for $9.99 and $99.99 each while the Broadband2Go MC998D is free of charge.

They’ve also got brand new plans to offer smartphone subscribers. The new Combo plans start off at $50 (500MB data, 150 anytime + 50 Bonus minutes) and goes as high as $100 (3GB data, 500 anytime minutes) per month. The option to Build Your Own Plan is still there albeit now coming with more data options and being $5 more expensive than the previous ones. The lowest data plan is $30/month that gives you 500MB data while this most expensive one is priced at $85/month with 5GB of data. $85 for 5GB of data? The company formerly known as Robbers now appears to be Reasonable Rogers by comparison, with 5GB costing just $30. Nothing discount about Virgin!
