Still remember the Square Credit Card Payment System for the iPhone? Yeah, it’s been a while since we last heard anything about it, and no, we still don’t when it will exactly become available to interested merchants. What we do have for you today though is news that it will soon have a rival courtesy of Mophie.
Mophie is renowned for making protective cases and battery packs for the iPhone and other iPods models, and with their latest venture, their now also diving into the world of mobile credit card payments via the iPhone. Mophie’s mobile payment solution, however, unlike what Square is offering, does it in a more fashionable manner by integrating the credit card reader into an iPhone case design. An appropriate app will also be made available.
There’s still no official name for this new iPhone accessory and technical details about it are pretty scarce at the moment. Fortunately though, it is scheduled to make an appearance at CES next week. Just exercise a little patience as we’ll soon have more info about Mophie’s upcoming iPhone offering.
