We don’t know if it’s because we’re fast approaching Christmas or it’s because of low consumer interest, but what’s certain is that the Samsung Omnia II is now retailing $50 less than when it first debuted on Bell early last month.

Originally priced at $199.95, the Samsung Omnia II can now be had for as little as $149.95 on a 3-year contract. This actually even beats what Verizon has over on their side of the fence in the US ($199 on a 2-year contract) so you know that this is really a very good deal. Prices on other contract terms, however, remain unchanged. Outright purchase price is still $549.95.

To acquaint those not familiar with this new Samsung Omnia phone, the Windows Mobile 6.5-powered Omnia II features a 3.7-inch 480×800 touchscreen, 5-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, WiFi, Bleutooth 2.0 with A2DP support, DLNA, 7.2Mbps HSPA connectivity, GPS, 3.5mm jack, and 16GB internal memory expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB). If you get it from Bell, you also get a free Vancouver 2010 Olympics decal as part of the package as well. For more info, you can check out the Bell Samsung Omnmi II here.

Here is an update to this phone as of 2010.01.30 the phone is not support in Thunder Bay. So do not expect to use it if you travel there. The GPS on the phone is not supported by BELL. So the GPSNAV that is available for ifone and crakberry is not for the Samsung. It was the only phone at the time I bought that support updating Excel files the other phones only had VIEW capability.
I would recommend getting the OMNIA II and then bugging BELL to support it
