Mobile banking, even with today’s modern technology and mobile devices, is yet to become a mainstream service amongst financial institutions. Scotiabank, fortunately, is one of those banks who have their eyes set on the digital future with mobile services playing a key role in it.
Case and point, Scotiabank has announced that they will be providing mobile banking services to their clients by spring 2010. They’ve partnered with M-Com to develop the software needed for this to become a reality, and if everything goes according to plan, by next spring, Scotiabank clients will have access to their accounts as well as pay bills and even transfer funds with the use of their mobile device. Here’s what M-Com CEO Adam Clark had to say about their new partnership with Scotiabank:
“We are delighted to be partnering with Scotiabank to bring our mobile banking, expertise to Canada. We will be leveraging our experience delivering mobile banking solutions internationally to extend our 100 per cent implementation success rate. By spring 2010, any Scotiabank customer with a mobile device can have secure access to their bank accounts – anywhere, any time.”
Mike Henry, Senior VP Sales & Service of Scotiabank, for his part, shared his view as to why they decided to offer up mobile banking services:
With more than 22 million cell phone subscribers in Canada, wireless phones are among the fastest growing consumer products in history. Canadians rely on the convenience of mobile devices to help them manage their busy lifestyles, and having the ability to do their banking from their mobile devices will simplify their lives that much more. The launch of mobile banking for Scotiabank customers next spring further demonstrates our commitment to offering innovative, convenient and secure banking solutions for our customers.
We’re still clueless as to the technical aspects of what their upcoming mobile banking app will be, but we are certain of one thing though, their latest endeavor will surely make banking more pleasurable and accessible for Scotiabank clients who are always on the go.
