Clicky, a site devoted to web analytics, has released some pretty interesting figures with regards to mobile internet traffic in and outside the US pitting the iPhone against the entire Android fleet, the Motorola Droid specifically, and everything else in between.

As of November 11th, the iPhone clearly dominates the Android platform globally, but what’s particularly surprising here is that Verizon’s new Motorola Droid phone has managed to already account for 25% of Android traffic in the US. It’s barely a week since it hit the market so it’s quite an astonishing feat that it now makes up a significant amount of the Android web traffic in the country. As expected, Droid web traffic outside the US is nil simply because it has yet to become available elsewhere, but this will soon change as the Motorola Milestone (GSM variant of the Droid) has been announced both in Europe and Canada (Telus).
So what can we take away from this report? Well, it’s quite obvious based on the numbers that the iPhone is still the most preferred mobile device by a lot of people when surfing the net while on the go. The Android OS, especially the Droid, is faring pretty well despite being a rookie in the industry, but as you can clearly see, they still have a lot of catching up to do.
