While most Telus subscribers across Canada can look forward to the release of the iPhone on November 5th, those residing in Saskatchewan will have to wait a little bit longer for the iPhone and other HSPA devices to become available.

It’s confirmed that the iPhone 3G S will not be available in Saskatchewan this year nor is it likely to happen next year. Residents of Saskatchewan hoping to get a new HSPA device will likely have to wait until 2011, the tentative launch date and the time when a new network sharing agreement signed by SaskTel with Telus and Bell is slated to get underway. Through this new partnership, Bell and Telus hope to bring next generation HSPA and UMTS wireless data services and devices to Saskatchewan residents via SaskTel by 2011.

Here's what SaskTel CEO and President Robert Watson had to said about their latest venture:

Our agreement with TELUS will maximize our $172 million investment in deploying UMTS/HSPA wireless technologies and will provide our customers increased benefits such as access to Canada's largest 3G+ network.

2011 definitely seems like a long way out but it's still reassuring to know that SaskTel is doing their part to bring the latest services and devices to their loyal subscribers.
