Press Release

Bell Mobility Officially Launches in Western Canada

VANCOUVER, Sept. 17 /CNW/ – Bell Mobility officially launches its Western
expansion today with its consumer marketing campaign in Alberta and British
Columbia. The company began Western operations in 2000 to serve business
customers and build the foundation for its consumer launch. Today’s
advertising and promotional campaign heralds the beginning of Bell Mobility’s
active consumer effort in the West.

The consumer campaign consists of television, radio, and print advertising as well as street promotions. As part of Bell Mobility’s national commitment, it will be adopted across the country.

“This is an exciting day for Bell Mobility as we move forward on our strategy to become a truly national company,” said Pierre Blouin, Bell Mobility’s President and CEO. “Before launching our consumer effort, we felt it was important to become part of the Western communities and get to know what potential customers need and want from their wireless provider. We are thrilled the day has arrived for us to introduce ourselves to Westerners on a wide scale.”

Over the past 18 months, Bell Mobility has established offices in Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary. “We currently have over 150 Western employees, and expect to have more than 300 by next year,” Blouin continued. “We have opened 12 Bell World stores in the West and are gaining tremendous momentum. Last week alone, four new Bell World locations opened their doors.”

“It is exciting to be a Western-based team operating in the BC and AB market with the support of a national company’s proven track record. Bell Mobility serves over 3.7 million Canadians and has the lowest customer churn rate in North America. Customer value is at the core of everything we do and I believe Westerners will embrace that,” said Paul Healey, President of Bell Mobility, Western Region.

Bell Mobility recently announced its investment of $180 million to expand its network into Alberta and British Columbia. When the network lights up early in 2002, it will be the first 3G-ready wireless network in Western Canada.

Bell Mobility’s suite of wireless products and services is available through Bell World, Future Shop, Wireless Wave and Staples stores in Alberta and British Columbia.

    Hi Bell,
Can’t even find who I can contact by e~mail ~ Trying to figure out what went wrong with my Bell Service and Contract ~ I was a happy Bell Customer & Now and for sometime now frustrated. Went back to find this letter ~ as it was suggested that I get roaming on my phone for when I went to the states. When I got back and tried to cancel the roaming on my phone. ” NO ” I couldn’t cause I had to have it for 2 months? or maybe longer ? ? No one told me that nor does it say so in this email ?
It ended up being a huge expense for me that was unnecessary. My contract comes due here in a few months and of course they want me to renew. I’m really having second thoughts. I had a contract with Bell but because the owner of the store that I was dealing with died and I went to the other Bell store that we have in town, they told me that I will have to drive to Kelowna a hour away for me because there is another (outlet store there that was a brach of the store that I was dealing with ? ? What ? ?
I have been trying to call Bell to get a better rate plan ~ ever since this roaming service which really wasn’t there for me either, I wanted to get free incoming minutes ~ it was posted on my phone to get it and at the time it was $5. But every time I called they had a better idea of what would work for me and I never did get it. Oh we will add a extra 100 min. or we will give you first minute free or whatever not to give me unlimited incoming ? Where is the service in all this ? My bill has been 3 X’s what it really should of been. So what’s the problem with giving me free incoming ? I’ve been a good customer and my bills are always paid on time. Well the only thing I finally figured out ~ I have a contract with Bell although the Rep that I had and the contract with died and unfortunately so did my service. Whenever I had a problem, I could take it in the store and they would help me out with it. Now I don’t have anything except a one way contract. The last kind Gentleman that I talk with finally put me on free incoming which you will see helped me not to pay over $100 more than I should of been paying. I’ve been checking around and pay as you go with NO contract is about the same as what I have been paying, ~ and free incoming ~ the only thing I have extra is paying by the second.
When we have a contract with BELL and the store that we were dealing with closes for whatever reason, why can’t we deal with another bell store even if it needs to be dealt with thru head quaters or what ever to help the customer, or should the customer know that there is another store that will help you? It took me this long to figure it out myself why I wasn’t getting the service. Do I want to stay with Bell ? As far as I can tell BELL broke the contract with me and I didn’t get the service or any explanation as to some of the X X charges they have been dinging me with. I was paying like I didn’t even have a contract, and I sure haven’t had the service reps help either, I was on my own, and I wonder how many other people from that one store are having the same problems?
I would appreciate it someone from headquarter would take a look at my bills over the last year and you must be able to tell all the reps that I talked with begging for free incoming for whatever charge I would of been better off and paying less. I would really appreciate hearing from someone from the top, cause this really isn’t right. Please forward this to Someone that will be able to HELP ME with this matter.
Thanks in advance for Looking into this matter for me and look forward to hearing from you soon.

My son has a negative balance even though I just topped up with my credit card. I even had it linked to a credit card for automatic top ups. Then last week there was a disconnect of services. So I topped up. Now it’s -$22 !!! Somehow the funds are being stolen as he hardly uses his Bell Prepaid phone. I wonder how often the auto-top up happened
