Apple Q4 sales: 7.4 Million iPhones sold

When a renowned company such as Apple releases a new phone into the market and restricts its availability through exclusive carriers and bundles it with pricey data plans minus standard features you’d expect from most phones nowadays such as MMS, cut/copy/paste, and 3G connectivity, it’s almost certain that critics will be quick to pounce on it. It’s a good thing though that Apple has learned from their mistakes of the past and addressed the shortcomings their first generation iPhone.

As a testament to how popular and well-received the iPhone now is, Apple is proud to report that they’ve shipped a total of 7.4 million units last quarter which is a remarkable 7% improvement from last year. This is largely thanks to the stellar feature set on the iPhone 3G S making it more enticing to consumers especially since its retailing at the same price as previous iPhone models. Apple sold only 6.9 million iPhone 3G units during the same period last year, and a total of 6.1 million iPhone (EDGE only) units for the first 5 months since they introduced the iPhone into the market. With exclusivity soon to be a thing of the past and the iPhone entering the Chinese market, things can only get better for Apple and the Jesus phone in the coming months.

We know that there are still iPhone haters out there, but you’ve got to admit, in the quarter where veteran Nokia did so badly, it’s quite an amazing feat for Apple, with just one mobile phone under their name, to do so well under the same prevailing circumstances.
