Here’s some good news for those of you looking to get a hold of the Palm Pre but are limited to working on a restricted budget. Bell has officially dropped the price on the Palm Pre and is now offering it for $149.95 on a 3-yr contract.

Actually, this price drop is still tame compared to others and a bit late considering that some of Bell’s dealers and US peers began selling the Palm Pre at lower price last month. Amazon for example is currently selling the Sprint Palm Pre for just $99.99 while Best Buy Canada has had theirs retailing for $149.99 since early September. So, basically, it was just only a matter of time before Bell also lowered their on-contract price for the Palm Pre in order for them to stay competitive in the market. For more info, you can check it out here.
Of course, one can’t help but wonder if this has anything to do with the launching of their new HSPA network next month. Given that a fresh batch of new mobile phones will be hitting Bell soon, are they looking to clear inventory of the Palm Pre already to make room for a new Palm device, say the Palm Pixi perhaps? Anyway, whatever the reason is for the new pricing, the important thing here is that Bell’s exclusive Palm smartphone is now retailing $50 less its original price when it debuted last August.
