Last we heard about the Acer A1 was back in March where it was reported to be ready for launch this month. However, given that there are just a couple of days left in September, it’s starting to look more unlikely as each day passed by.

Fortunately, we’ve got ever reliable Expansys leaking out new info on this unannounced phone ahead of everyone else complete with its retail price. Apart from the Android OS, you can now add a Qualcomm 8250 768MHz processor, 256MB RAM/512MB ROM, quad-band GSM, 850/1900/2100MHz HSPA bands (2Mbps upload/7.2Mbps download), GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR and A2DP support, and 1350mAh battery to its list of features. It also boasts of a 3.5-inch WVGA touchscreen, 5-megapixel autofocus camera, 3.5mm jack, and a microSD card slot for additional storage.
It’s now listed as available for pre-order for €389 or $571 in US currency, and they’re even throwing in discounts for bulk orders of 5 or more units of the Acer A1. To be honest, we’re not putting too much into the listed price as this will still vary depending on the country where it will officially become available. Be that as it may, the inclusion of its complete specs is a undoubtedly welcome treat.
So, based on this new info on the Acer A1 Android phone, do you think Acer’s got what it takes to rumble with the big boys in the Android arena? If they’ve got more or even better phones such as the A1, we definitely think so.
