Amazon warned users of its Kindle app for the iPad and iPhone to refrain from updating to the latest version of the app. Amazon's latest submission to the Apple App Store was designed to fix some bugs, as well as remedy certain registration issues. But Amazon has confirmed that the latest update has a glitch that deregisters the Kindles thus erasing the libraries, bookmarks and other settings.
What Else You Need To Know
- Kindle already hit by the bug won't be paying twice for purchased content as they're backed up in the cloud; but they will have to utilize time and data to restore the entire library of books, movies and TV episodes back to their devices.
- Amazon recently updated Kindle for iOS to support X-Ray for books, which was previously an exclusive feature for Amazon Kindle hardware.
Other sources
The real question is, how will Amazon react to its loyal customers (clearly not that loyal, what with the iOS bit, but still) after putting them through the pain and effort of restoring their entire library.- Jordan Crook, Mobile Crunch
