With its 1-cent price tag, the ZTE Director under contract is inexpensive, but U.S. Cellular carries much more attractive options. The HTC One V, for example, has better build quality and a 5-megapixel camera that takes way better photos. And despite running the dated Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, the Samsung Galaxy Metrix 4G has a bigger, better 4-inch screen and operates on the carrier's 4G LTE network. Both these devices are not only the same price as the Director, but they outshine it in performance as well.

The Sprint Force does not try to be something it is not. There is no fancy materials to give the air of a high end phone, and the price reflects what you’re getting accordingly. It is not the prettiest, the fastest or the toughest phone out there, but at $50 on contract it is a phone that will work well for the average user. Decent internals and light software add-ons allow the Force to run quickly enough.

The hardware is solid and functions well. In fact, it far surpassed what I expected in terms of quality from ZTE. The Force connected to Sprint's network and offered great call quality. Battery life was above average and the camera surprised me with its results. It's always nice to see a stock version of Android, and Sprint does a great job keeping its smartphones free of unwanted apps and junk.

The LG Mach, for instance, has a sleeker look and a zippier dual-core processor. But if you're not feeling its physical keyboard, then the LG Viper 4G LTE is your best bet. As you might guess, it too has that fast data connection. Since the time of my original review, it can update to Android 4.0, and its 5-megapixel camera has better photo and video quality than the Force.

For about £80 we doubt you'll find a more competent phone than the ZTE Blade III. It's solidly built, has enough power for day-to-day phone use and while it won't blow you away with performance, normal users are unlikely to suffer much from the single-core CPU.

The design is reasonable, the ZTE Android customisations are stylish enough - although none of them adds a massive amount to the experience of using the phone they also don't spoil it at all.

Nothing about the ZTE Groove screams "modern." Maybe it's the outdated name (seriously, the only appropriate times to say "groove" is when ironically referring to the 1970s, or discussing jazz music), but mostly because it runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and has a very unappealing plastic construction.

Don't misunderstand me -- I have no qualms with entry-level handsets. They're great for users looking for something simple and easy to use. But the Groove is different. On top of being dated, it's plagued with mediocre call and audio quality, and a poor screen that simply render it a Groove I just can't get into.

The ZTE Avid 4G is a serviceable smartphone. The hardware works fine, even if it won't be winning any design awards. The signal performance, call quality, and battery life are all right where they should be in this price range. My biggest problem with the Avid is the bluish screen, which I could not ignore, and the freakish reboots.

The software and app features of the Avid 4G all behaved as expected, especially since it does not stray far from stock Android 4.0. The big bonuses are the decent 5-megapixel camera and 720p HD video camera, each of which does a fine job.

MetroPCS offers some of today's best phones, such as the Galaxy S III, but often at prices starting above $349. The bulk of Metro's smartphones cost about $99. That leaves the Avid, with its $149 price tag, somewhere in the middle. The Avid certainly outperforms many of its lesser stablemates, and the extra $50 to pick up the Avid is money well spent.

When you look at MetroPCS' Android lineup, the ZTE Avid 4G is one of the few handsets that feature both 4G LTE and Android 4.0. Though the Avid features Ice Cream Sandwich and operates on MetroPCS 4G network, the carrier has other LTE devices that are faster, smoother, and sometimes, even cheaper.

one standout aspect of this phone is its screen.. The screen real estate available is really generous and is incredible for casual browsing and video watching.. Really recommend this phone for anybody who wants to get initiated into android ecosystem.

Though zte phones have been quiet solid in the past, they always somewhat managed to have a flimsy buil quality. But this phone changes that trend this has a nice finishin and design for an unbelievable price

Nice display, sleek thin body, fabulous sound quality. Power-up and Power-off are both slow. Manual and ZTE support, both nearly worthless. Back case is apparently a very porous material, and mysterious light rust-colored stains are appearing. Altogether, a very good phone for the price.

This is brilliant you can actually watch HD Video Output via HDMI Connector with this phone. And it also has Dual Mic with Noise Cancellation and a Dolby Surround Audio. This is amazing im gonna get my hands on one. and check how it performs. Will post reviews about its performance shortly.

When You try to go to camera mode You see, " Please insert an SD Card before using the camera". Camera mode does not work

loved it in the beginning but after a month it completely changed. Not a lot of space for apps. and now I when I turn the phone on all I get is the t mobile logo and tone. It just keeps repeating the same thing over and over

The ZTE Optik i purchased seems to be a wonderful low cost device with a 16GB internal storage & a Great display with 216 pixels per inch runs on a Android 3.2 Honeycomb. Im quite satisified with this tablet. Value for money

Most awaited device purchased 2 days ago. ZTE launched the device Force recently.I am impressed with the features. You can have great time with this phone when you want to have fun. I can say that I'm pretty much satisfied with the product, it is everything it's promised. The interface is fast and intuitive; even if you're not familiar with android devices i would definitely recommend this device to everyone.
